BMW Group India has set a new benchmark in the luxury electric vehicle (EV) market by surpassing 5,000 EV deliveries, a first for any premium automaker in the country. This milestone underscores BMW’s commitment to sustainable mobility and its leadership in India’s growing EV landscape. To celebrate, the company has launched an ambitious 4,000 km high-power charging corridor stretching from Jammu to Madurai, making long-distance EV travel seamless and accessible.
The achievement highlights BMW’s focus on blending luxury with eco-conscious innovation. Vikram Pawah, President and CEO of BMW Group India, emphasized, “This is not just a number; it represents our unwavering commitment to e-mobility and pioneering spirit in the premium EV landscape.” The company’s diverse EV portfolio, including models like the BMW iX1 Long Wheelbase and the flagship i7, has driven this success, with EVs now accounting for 18% of BMW’s total sales in India.

To address range anxiety and promote EV adoption, BMW has rolled out a high-power charging corridor spanning major cities like Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, and Madurai. With fast chargers installed every 300 km, this network ensures drivers can travel worry-free. The chargers, ranging from 120 kW to 720 kW, are open to all EV brands, fostering inclusivity in India’s e-mobility ecosystem.
BMW has also integrated these stations with the myBMW app, allowing users to locate chargers, check live status, and make payments effortlessly. With partnerships like Statiq and Zeon, BMW offers access to over 6,000 charging points nationwide, including 300 destination chargers at premium locations like hotels and malls. This comprehensive infrastructure makes owning an EV more convenient than ever.
BMW’s milestone comes at a time when India’s EV market is gaining momentum. The company’s focus on long-wheelbase models and premium EVs has resonated with buyers, with the iX1 LWB leading the charge. Priced at Rs 49 lakh, it offers a 531 km range, making it a compelling choice for luxury EV buyers.
